Exercise: Listview for films, with sorting and paging

This exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to choose the correct Wise Owl Microsoft training course, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

The answer to the exercise will be included and explained if you attend the relevant Wise Owl course (sadly, only in the UK for now).

Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Create a new website, and add into it all of the files in the above folder (you may also need to run the SQL script to generate the Movies database, if you haven't previously done so).

Create a webform containing a listview control to show 12 films at a time, grouped 4 at a time, with sorting and paging:

Enough to keep you busy?

You can use a style similar to the following to get the films to appear in a horizontal row for each group:

Display the films in an unordered list, and use this class

When you've finished, show what you've done to your trainer (who'll be impressed ...), and close all your files down.
