Before you can do this exercise, you'll need to download and unzip this file (if you have any problems doing this, click here for help).

You need a minimum screen resolution of about 700 pixels width to see our exercises. This is because they contain diagrams and tables which would not be viewable easily on a mobile phone or small laptop. Please use a larger tablet, notebook or desktop computer, or change your screen resolution settings.

Create a new module called modVariableCode.

Create a procedure within this new module called OpenAnyTable.

Declare a variable (called TableName perhaps?) at the top of your procedure which we will use in a moment to hold the name of a table.

Add code to your procedure to display an input box asking you to enter the name of a table and store the answer in your variable as declared above:

The input box displayed by your code

Add a line to your procedure so that it opens the table whose name has just been typed in (for the purposes of this exercise you can assume that a correct table name was entered).

Save and close this module.
