If you like pivot tables, you'll love PowerPivot! If you're experiencing speed, volume or flexibility constraints in your pivot tables, PowerPivot for Excel 2010 is for you - and we've developed a two-day training course to explain it. We think this user-friendly successor to the beast that is Analysis Services has a good future in the marketplace.
SQL Server 2012 was released at the start of April, and at the owlery we're naturally interested in what it contains. Reporting Services has been rewritten, and yet strangely has hardly changed at all, while SQL has good new features for accessing files using SQL, as well as some welcome new functions.
It all began in a basement in Chorlton-cum-Hardy on 1st May 1992. To commemorate our 20th anniversary, we've taken a nostalgic look back at how software and software training has changed over the last 20 years. Strictly not for the under 30s!
You can now create custom tests online to test your staff's knowledge of your company's software and systems (no one else will see tests that you create). Alternatively, you can create tests to see how well your family or friends know Super Mario Brothers, or the plot of The Parent Trap! You can start the ball rolling here.
At Wise Owl, we fervently believe that software should be made as easy to use as possible. David McCandless has taken the same attitude to information, with his Information is Beautiful website (and book). Once you've seen his visualisations you'll never look at a bar or pie chart in the same way again.
