Visual Studio 2005 is the first web development tool from Microsoft which combines the ease of use of FrontPage with the power of packages like Visual InterDev. You should now be able to use this as the sole web development package for your Intranet or web sites. A couple of changes are shown below - for the main lists of changes look at either the ASP.NET 2.0 changes or the Visual Basic 2005 changes. Specific changes include:
| Change | Details |
|---|---|
| Team-working | VS.NET 2003 had little support for team-working. Because projects have become a looser concept in Visual Studio 2005, two people can now work on different files in the same project. Even better, one person can work on an XHTML file while another works on the codebehind file. An example of a web site not using projects is shown below. |

| SQL Express | You can now create databases within Visual Studio 2005 in Access or SQL Server, using SQL Express. |
