Excel 2007 changes

Excel 2007 looks very different from its predecessors, but underneath all of the cosmetic changes are a few useful new features. Wise Owl particularly like the new autocompletion when entering formulae. Specific changes include:

Completely new interface Excel 2007 includes a single ribbon at the top of the screen, rather than the previous menu/toolbar combination - which works well enough once you get used to it.

Fill effects It is the little things in life which matter - you can now apply fill effects to cell backgrounds!

Easier lists Lists are now called tables, and include several new features. One example is calculated columns - if you press ENTER in this diagram, the formulae will be created for the entire column.

Conditional formatting This has just got much more powerful - as a glance at this screen shot will show.

Better graphics Everything in Excel 2007 looks prettier, there are new autoshapes and a new feature called SmartArt for different types of diagrams (such as organograms).

Page layout view You can now edit headers and footers for a worksheet in a WYSIWYG way, using the new page layout view.
