This Microsoft Word 2007 PAGE LAYOUTS exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl ADVANCED WORD 2007 course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Cover Pages - Wuthering Heights

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) Download the files needed to start this exercise: exercise-1043.zip (and click here if you experience any problems unzipping this file after downloading it).
2) Open the Word file found in the above folder which contains Chapter One of Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights".
3) Go to the Insert tab of the Ribbon and add the Motion Cover Page to the beginning of the document.
4) Change the title to Wuthering Heights and the author to Emily Brontë and delete all other Content Controls.
5) Change the default picture to a more suitable choice.  You may wish to use the photograph in the folder shown above.
Training exercise hint To quickly change the photograph, try right-clicking on the existing picture...
6) Make any other formatting changes you wish to make.  Some suggestions would be:
  • Changing the colours and styles of your shapes
  • Changing fonts and increasing font sizes
7) If you have time, why not try saving your newly customised design to the Cover Page Gallery so that it can be easily re-used in the future?

8) Save your file with the name Covering Heights.docx and close it down.
