This Microsoft Visual Basic RECORDING MACROS AND BUTTONS exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl EXCEL VISUAL BASIC course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Relative vs absolute recording in mortgage model

1) Download the files needed to start this exercise: exercise-113.zip (and click here if you experience any problems unzipping this file after downloading it).
2) Select cell B3 as shown below:

3) With this cell selected, record two macros:
  • One called AbsoluteFormat, which sets the cell containing the house price to be italic
  • Another called RelativeFormat, which sets the font of the cell one cell to the right to be italic
Training exercise hint Note that although the two macros will do the same thing when you run them with cell B3 selected, they will work differently if any other cell is selected.
4) Save this file and close it down.
