This Microsoft Software 2007 PROJECT BASICS exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl MICROSOFT PROJECT 2007 course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Bike Ride - End Date Project

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) We are going to plan to do one of the Birmingham to Oxford bike rides.
2) Create a new project file and schedule to a finish date.
3) Create the following tasks with the indicated durations grouped under a summary task as shown below.
Exercise screen-shot 2124 All tasks start 'as late as possible'.
4) Link the tasks together as follows:
  • Application => Get sponsors
  • Application => Training
  • Application => Race day
  • Buy a bike => Training
  • Training => Race day
  • Get sponsors => Race day
  • Race day => Recover
  • Race day => Collect sponsorship.
Training exercise hint The date of the race day will change! Task dates can be fixed via an Inflexible constraints (must start or must finish), although this can cause other issues later on.
5) Save the new file as Bike Ride and close it down.
