This Microsoft Software 2007 RESOURCE CONFLICTS exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl MICROSOFT PROJECT 2007 course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: London 2012 - Manual Levelling

1)	Download the files needed to start this exercise: exercise-872.zip (and click here if you experience any problems unzipping this file after downloading it).
2)	Open the file found in the folder shown above.
3)	Go to the Resource Sheet to review the number of Builders available. The maximum currently allocated to any single task in Build phase is 900.
4)	Change the Resource Assignments on the tasks as indicated in Red below, to make better use of the resources and accepting any resulting changes in duration.
	Ignore any yellow warning triangles.
5)	Level the resources on a Day by Day basis, using Standard leveling order, to review the effect of these changes on the duration of the project.
6)	Although the Main Event does still start before 27/07/2012, the Planning phase needs to be more integrated. We need to allow some time to review the Facilities task in light of any security concerns raised by the initial planning.
7)	Clear the leveling on the entire project.
8)	Create a split at halfway (Sat 19/05/07) in the Facilities task and the Securities task, creating two 2 month blocks for each task.
9)	Move the 2nd half of each task to start on Monday 16/07/07 creating a 2 month split in the middle of each.
You will need to zoom in on the Gantt chart to see the month splits and use the tooltips to find the right dates for the splits.
10)	Your resulting task bars should look similar to the below:
	Note: the durations of the tasks do not change.
11)	Level the resources on a Day by Day basis, in Standard leveling order.
	After leveling your Gantt Chart should look similar to the above.
12)	If you are happy with the new plan and the 'Main Event' can start before 27/07/2012, save the updated file as London 2012 - We are on time and close it down.
