Range names and absolute references exercise
Harder than average exercise

This Microsoft Office RANGE NAMES AND ABSOLUTE REFERENCES exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl ADVANCED EXCEL course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Odds and bobs

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) Create a workbook as shown below:
Exercise screen-shot 548 The orange matrix is a product of the red and yellow ones
2) You might need the following notes!
  • Whenever you recalculate the worksheet, the red and yellow boxes should fill with random integers between 0 and 100 and 0 and 10 respectively
  • You should use the MMULT function to fill in the orange box - but beware, as this is an array function
  • Your worksheet should not use any cell references (just range names)

Thank you for showing an interest in this Advanced Excel training course! As mentioned above, full answers to this and other exercises are provided on the course. On all Wise Owl scheduled courses delegates can take away these model answers (together with their own efforts!) on a free USB stick.
