Exercise: Red Riding Hood headers and footers

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) Download the files needed to start this exercise: exercise-1042.zip (and click here if you experience any problems unzipping this file after downloading it).
2) Open the file in the folder shown above
3) Insert a header, basing it upon the choice called Blank (3 columns) and edit this as follows:
  • Type the text "Wise Owl Story Time" in the left section
  • Delete the centre section - it is not needed
  • Insert the picture of the wolf (also found in the above folder) into the right section
4) Format the text and resize the picture as you see fit
Exercise screen-shot 2419 Your header may end up looking like this (or considerably better!)
5) If necessary, adjust the top margin of your page so that your header doesn't appear too close to the main text in the document.
6) Now insert page numbers at the bottom of the document, choosing whichever style of numbering you would like.
Training exercise hint You can format the text of your headers and footers in exactly the same way as you would format normal text.
7) When you are happy with the appearance of your document, save the document with the name Little Red Riding Header.docx and close it down.

Thank you for showing an interest in this Advanced Word 2007 training course! As mentioned above, full answers to this and other exercises are provided on the course. On all Wise Owl scheduled courses delegates can take away these model answers (together with their own efforts!) on a free USB stick.
