This Microsoft Excel BASIC FORMULAE exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl INTRODUCTION TO EXCEL course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Plumbers - basic formulae

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) Imagine that you have received various estimates from plumbers, and you want to compare them.  First type in the information shown below:

2) Create a formula giving the total costs for the first company (Bodgit & Co.).  These will be the sum of material and labour costs:

3) Now copy this formula down to give the total figures for all of the companies.
4) Use the function wizard to create formulae giving the highest and lowest cost estimate:

5) Save your file as But will they turn up.xls, and close it down.
