This Microsoft Excel 2007 RANGE NAMES AND ABSOLUTE REFERENCES exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl ADVANCED EXCEL 2007 course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Richest people - Range names

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) Download the files needed to start this exercise: exercise-815.zip (and click here if you experience any problems unzipping this file after downloading it).
2) Create the following range names:
  • Age - referring to D4:D13
  • Wealth - referring to E4:E13
  • WealthPerYear - referring to F4:F13
3) Probably the quickest way to create the range names is to select the cells shown below and press Ctrl  + Shift + F3:

4) Use the range names you have created to calculate the wealth per year for each person, and the total and average wealth per year.

5) Save the file with the same name and close it down.
