This Microsoft Developer CREATING FORMS exercise is provided to allow potential course delegates to assess their suitability for the Wise Owl VISUAL BASIC 2005 WINDOWS FORMS course only, and may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any format without the prior written consent of Wise Owl.

Exercise: Creating a simple form with tooltips

A full answer to this exercise is provided as part of the training course!

1) Create a form called frmStarSignBasic, allowing you to input a star sign's details:

2) Make sure that the following work:
  • Pressing TAB takes you through the controls in the correct order
  • The accelerator keys work correctly (for example, ALT + S takes you to the Star sign textbox
  • The ENTER and ESC keys choose the correct default buttons
3) Attach code to the buttons so that the Cancel button closes down the form, and the Show button displays what you have typed in - for example:

4) Check that the tab order of your form is correct, then save it and close it down.
