Training with Integrity
We recycle ALL of our paper, glass and plastic bottles in the office - every few weeks one of the directors collects it all up and takes it to the local recycling centre a few hundred yards away. We also recycle ALL of our cardboard (and if you work in Glossop, so can you - contact Waste 2000 on 01457 866933).
We try our hardest to minimise car transport:
- We do not supply company cars for anyone - they just reduce the marginal cost of car travel, and hence encourage people to cover more miles.
- All of our training centres are within a few minutes walk of a main-line station, and when we give out directions we stress the directions using public transport.
- Our trainers usually travel to courses by public transport.
- Out of our 7 staff, two regularly cycle to work and one walks. All but one lives within 3 miles of the office.
We very much believe that staff work with us, not for us. We try to involve staff in the day-to-day running of Wise Owl as much as is practicable, and treat people as equals and not subordinates. This is an attitude of mind, not a policy.
We operate a discriminatory employment policy - we discriminate against people who would not make good trainers. Otherwise, we don't care who you are or what bag you are into!
