We recycle ALL of our paper, glass and plastic bottles in the office - every few weeks one of the directors collects it all up and takes it to the local recycling centre a few hundred yards away. We also recycle ALL of our cardboard (every couple of months we take it to Houghtons Waste Paper in Audenshaw).
At our Manchester training centre we have stacks of white plastic boxes (they always impress delegates) for collection of paper, glass, cardboard and plastic bottles - which again we recycle.
We try our hardest to minimise car transport:
We turn down any requests for work from tobacco companies. It's difficult in business to judge the morals of any company (for example, the author of this website happens to believe that nuclear power is a good thing, but this will be anathema to many people). However, we make an exception for tobacco companies.
We very much believe that staff work with us, not for us. We try to involve staff in the day-to-day running of Wise Owl as much as is practicable, and treat people as equals and not subordinates. This is an attitude of mind, not a policy.
We operate a discriminatory employment policy - we discriminate against people who would not make good trainers. Otherwise, we don't care who you are or what bag you are into!
